i've been dating a jw girl for about 4 years and we've recently had a lot of issues with the fact that her family doesn't like that i'm not a jw.
i've been looking into the religion and am interested in it.
but is it wrong to join just so i don't lose her?
Daniel, their giving each other gifts on days other than their birthdays isn't really a measurement of their devotion. The fact that they haven't invited you over to dinner and gotten to know you is a measure of their devotion to the religion.

The Watchtower is unique in its interpretation of the resurrection and, of course, at odds with the Bible's statements.
The Bible clearly states that there will be a resurrection of the righteous and the wicked; the first group to eternal life in Heaven/Paradise and the second to a literal hell of torments. This scripture makes it clears:
"I believe everything that is in accordance with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, 15 and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked." Acts 24:14b-15 New International Version
They claim that the "unrighteous" (As translated in the New World Translation instead of wicked) simply refers to most of those who died without knowing the 'truth' with the most evil among them being excluded. This selectivity simply has no scriptural support.

The sign may be a good idea but I believe those messages should be targeted at JWs with the public simply observing it. If you make a statement questioning the Watchtower most people will not give a damn since it won't affect them.

I think Simon has his hands full so somebody else should take responsibility. The sign should direct people to this site though. However, that will set him up to judicial harassment with threats of lawsuits no matter how it is posted. Yet, in order to be effective, the message should be a strong one.
The sign should be located in a busy urban area to maximize viewers. One thing to note is that it may not be worth the money for the results. Let's not waste effort and resources for something that will be a tempest in a teapot.
i'm sure some kind of arrangement was made, some of the uber dubs in a panic as to what they would do if the couldn't get to their meeting tonight.

so the fade is progressing well.... however, it has been noticed by the 'hounders', who i know will be "following up" with us soon i'm sure.. so i have thought of a way of shutting down the questions etc.... if they ask about things like meeting attendance and field activity, i am going to say something like:.
"oh, thanks for your interest and concern brothers.

whathehadas, If it happens once a week like it seems to be (and that doesn't include the incidents that aren't covered by the media) then it should be thought of as all the time. And I'm including all races and not just shootings but body slamming, which seems to be a favorite of police, and other forms of beatings. I have seen at least a dozen videos in the past few months.
As for your not being pulled over let me ask you, what type of neighborhood do you live in and how new is your car?
